The “Big Game” Day

The “Big Game” Day

The Big Game day is going to take place this Sunday, Feb. 2 in Miami, FL. The teams that are competing for the championship are the Kansas City Chiefs vs. the San Francisco 49ers. It starts at 3:30 pm (PST) and will be nationally televised on FOX. This is the first appearance for the Chiefs in 50 years and the 49ers' seventh appearance.

Here are some fun facts about the Big Game:

  1. It has been around since 1967.

  2. It is measured in Roman numerals because a football season runs over two calendar years.

  3. It's the second biggest eating day of the year for Americans.

  4. 8 million pounds of guacamole are consumed on this day.

  5. 14,500 tons of chips are eaten along with that guacamole.

  6. Some tickets can cost nearly $100,000.

  7. It is the second most-watched sporting event in the world. More than 100 million people worldwide watch every year. In fact, in 2010, it unseated M*A*S*H’s series finale as the most-watched show in television history with over 106.5 million viewers.
